Each time a page on your Internet site doesn't load, an error message will be displayed to the site visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that will show up, but what's common for all of them is that they are generic and most likely shall have absolutely nothing that is similar to the design of your site, which could be irritating for any site visitor. That is the main reason why hosting providers have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, site visitors shall see your custom content, which can be informative or amusing, based on your preference, and that will match the design and style of your site, so the pages shall not appear as if they're not part of your site at all. You may use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting

The custom error pages feature is provided with each web hosting package we offer and you shall be able to replace all of the generic pages with your own with no more than several mouse clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You shall need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a given domain or subdomain via the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You could do this for each site hosted in the account separately, so that every set of custom made pages shall have the same design and style as the Internet site it's part of. When necessary, you can always revert back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. One other way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have never done this before, you could simply copy the required program code from our Help article on this subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated hosting plans that we offer support custom made error pages and it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks from your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you'll need to input the links to the custom-made files through simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Of course, you should upload them inside your account before that. If you do not want to employ this function at some point, you can disable it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable if your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom made error pages. The file needs to have a specific line of code as well as a link for every error type and you can easily discover an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
